Oyama City

Oyama is a city in southern Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. It was granted city status in 1954 and is the second most populous city in the prefecture after Utsunomiya. The city is the birthplace of several notable individuals, including Japanese male swimmer Kosuke Hagino, Japanese playwright, screenwriter, and director Yuichi Fukuda, Japanese actor Kamenashi Kazuya, and others.

Oyama is home to many historic sites, including Hachiman Shrine, Anbo Shrine, Takayi Shrine, Shirahige Shrine, Myokenji Temple, Terano Higashi Site, Biwa Tumulus, and Marishiten Tumulus. The Oyama City Museum, which opened in 1983, consists of permanent exhibition rooms, special exhibition rooms, and hands-on learning rooms, making it a great place to learn about the city’s history and culture.
