Located on the Datun Volcano Group and the Jinshan Fault, Beitou has been Taiwan’s most famous hot spring town for over a century. The hot springs in Beitou mainly come from the Thermal Valley and Longfeng Valley at the end of Xingyi Road. The thermal water gushing from Thermal Valley is clear and green like jade, known as “Green Sulfur”; the white sulfur water brought through pipes from Longfeng Valley is also called “Star Spring.” Both types of springs are effective in treating chronic arthritis, muscle soreness, and chronic skin inflammation. To this day, many hot spring lovers enjoy visiting Beitou for a morning or evening bath before taking a relaxing walk, feeling especially refreshed afterward. Introduction

When visiting Beitou, you can choose to stay at a hot spring hotel to experience an authentic night in the hot spring town, or simply soak in the hot springs and make a day trip. Some great options include Takino Yu at 244 Guangming Road, which has nearly 90 years of bathing culture with separate men’s and women’s public pools; Yitun (formerly Xingno Yu) and Yin Song Ge on Youya Road, whose wooden buildings and courtyards retain a traditional Japanese atmosphere, offering hot spring bathing, relaxation, accommodation, and dining; and the luxury Spring Hotel, an international-level hot spring resort that offers the highest level of comfort. Other options such as Reihai, Quandu, Jiabin Ge, and Xinnianzhuang Hotel provide more standard lodging.
