Soaking in hot springs in winter is the best way to get through the cold season. However, the measure halving the hot spring extraction fee rate will expire at the end of this year, and starting next year, the fee will revert from the current NT$4.5 per cubic meter to NT$9, sparking concerns of a potential "price hike trend" for hot springs. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Water Resources Agency "Hot Spring Extraction Fee Rate and Utilization Measures," starting January 1, 2006, anyone extracting hot springs for personal or others' use must pay an extraction fee of NT$9 per cubic meter. At the time, to reduce the impact, the fee was halved until the end of this year, but it has recently been announced that the full fee will be reinstated starting January 1 next year. However, 20 hot spring businesses in Taipei's Beitou district have announced a no-price-hike statement just as cold fronts are about to hit, allowing the public to enjoy warm soaks without worrying about their wallets.

After the opening of the Taipei Metro Xinyi Line, locations such as Xinyi and Xiangshan, as well as Taipei 101, can be directly accessed to reach Beitou, attracting even more visitors to the area for hot spring experiences. Currently, the New Beitou Hot Spring District is the only hot spring area in Taiwan where all businesses have obtained the official Hot Spring Label, setting an example for Taiwan’s hot spring industry. In addition to benefiting from the Xinyi Line metro development, all association members have joined the price freeze movement. A total of 20 quality hot spring businesses have jointly signed a statement pledging no price hikes starting January 1, 2014, working together to keep soak prices stable, warmly supporting hot spring visitors, and collectively boosting the local economy.
