Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area
The area features three forest bathing trails: one follows the Shiwun River upstream; another descends via stairways to the dam area; the third winds through forest paths and a bamboo grove leading to the site of a Japanese shrine and an old elementary school.
Jiabaotai Stream and Shiwun River are two of Taiwan’s most renowned springs. Where the two streams converge, they form a broad, flat plateau, ideal for activities such as playing in the water, forest bathing, and learning about local plants.
The lush forests are the area’s most outstanding scenic feature. With pristine natural bathing spots, thriving woodlands, and the crystal-clear, emerald-green Shiwun River flowing gently through, the landscape is majestic, pristine, and untouched.
The main section of the forest recreation area is located around Jiabaotai at elevations between 750 and 1,100 meters. Baxian Mountain stands independently within the Central Mountain Range, offering panoramic views of the continuous ranges of Yushan, Nenggao Mountain, and Qilai Mountain. It is an excellent spot for hiking.
