Taichung Metropolitan Park

Taichung Metropolitan Park is located at the border of Xitun District and Shalu District in Taichung City, near the highest point of the Dajia Plateau. Covering an area of 88 hectares, it was planned by the Ministry of the Interior's Construction and Planning Agency under Taiwan's Urban Regional Leisure Facilities Development Program and opened in 2000.

Taichung Metropolitan Park is conceptually designed as a "metropolitan forest park," providing a large open space, expansive green areas, visually appealing green landscapes, diverse recreational activities, and access to natural resources among its various functions. The park features facilities such as a sundial sculpture, an astronomy square, a moon-gazing corridor, a health waterway, a fitness area, a plant observation zone, an outdoor theater, a sunny lawn... and more. Taichung Metropolitan Park has now become a leisure and recreation space for residents of the Greater Taichung area, also serving as an urban green buffer zone and a disaster prevention and evacuation site. The vegetation and water bodies such as ponds and wetlands within the park also provide habitats for wildlife.

Standing in Taichung Metropolitan Park and looking east, you can clearly see the Taichung Basin as well as the mountainous areas of Dakeng and Fengyuan. To the west, you can gaze at the Taiwan Strait and Taichung Port, with ships coming and going on the sea clearly visible, making it an "urban ecological park" with excellent views.
