The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (TMOA), abbreviated as NTMoFA (also commonly referred to as Taichung Museum of Fine Arts), formerly known as the "Taiwan Provincial Museum of Fine Arts," is one of Taiwan's important art museums and the only public art museum in central Taiwan. The architecture of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts features natural stone slabs as its primary exterior material, with large sculptures serving as guides. A wide range of exhibitions and cultural events convey the pulse of the city. The museum is organized into departments for research, exhibitions, collections, promotion, an information center, lecture and audiovisual facilities, and administrative offices. Surrounded by greenery, the area around the museum includes refined outdoor landscapes and sculptures. The museum has well-established regulations, featuring an approximately 230-meter-long Art Street and an Art Plaza spanning nearly 800 pyeong (about 2,640 square meters). In addition to regularly hosting various art exhibitions, it also houses many precious artworks, adding diversity to its exhibition themes.

NTMoFA is adjacent to the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, with the National Science and Technology Museum to the north. The three are connected by landscaped green pathways, forming a culturally rich recreational and sightseeing corridor in Taichung.

NTMoFA covers an area of about three hectares and is a square-shaped building with three floors above ground and one below. There is a sculpture park and surface parking outside the museum. The museum, including one basement level and three above-ground levels, is an elongated east-west structure covering an area of approximately 102,000 square meters, making it currently the largest art museum in Asia.

A central skybridge extends from the park through the museum from north to south, dividing it into the east and west zones. The west zone houses Exhibition Rooms A and B, while the east zone contains Exhibition Rooms C, D, E, and F. Exhibition spaces include Rooms A through F, Art Street, the Information Transit Station, and the Digital Art Ark – Digital Creative Resource Center.

In terms of exhibition space usage, the first and second floors are designated for special exhibitions, the third floor hosts permanent displays of Taiwanese art collections, and Exhibition Room F is mainly used for donation-based exhibitions.

There is a Chunshuitang (Spring Water Hall) on the basement level, offering tea, desserts, Chinese, and Western cuisine—all delicious and affordable. Highly recommended. For culturally inclined youth with ample time and energy, it’s an excellent spot for photos.
