Taichung Zhongshan Park

Taichung Zhongshan Park is located in the city center of Taichung, situated between Park Road and Section 2 of Free Road. The park is lush with flowers and trees, shaded by old trees, and serves as a major venue for sports and leisure activities for the residents of Taichung.

The park features an excellent layout. Upon entering the main gate and walking past the garden flower beds, you will see an artificial lake with the grand Zhongzheng Pavilion standing in the center. The crimson reflections floating on the water are a representative scenic sight of Taichung City. There are two bridges spanning the lake—one is a classical arched bridge and the other is a wooden bridge with red railings. Small boats are available for rent at the lakeside, allowing visitors to drift on the water. The park also includes leisure facilities such as an open-air music stage, tennis courts, and a children’s playground, and it preserves two historic sites: Battery Hill and Moon-Viewing Pavilion. Battery Hill was the earliest settlement area for immigrants during the late Qing Dynasty. Built in the 15th year of the Guangxu reign (1889), the Moon-Viewing Pavilion is the only remaining relic of the Taiwan Prefecture City in Taichung.

Transportation Tips: Walk for five minutes from Taichung Railway Station along Zhongzheng Road and Free Road to reach the park.
