Caoling

Caoling belongs to Caoling Village in Gukeng Township, situated at the border of Nantou, Chiayi, and Yunlin counties. It lies at the central location among recreational areas such as Xitou, Alishan, and RuiLi, at an elevation of 450–1,750 meters. Surrounded by mountains, the area features spectacular landscapes including rugged peaks, steep cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and natural formations shaped by the climate and terrain.

The Ten Scenic Spots of Caoling include the Twin-Heart Waterfall, String-of-Pearls Pools, Penglai Waterfall, Cliff Majesty, Gorge of Seasons, Little Paradise in the Clear Stream, Water Curtain Cave, Valley of Lost Souls, Frog Rock, and Marvelous Cave. Among these, the Gorge of Seasons, Cliff Majesty, and Penglai Waterfall are particularly majestic and magnificent. In addition to sightseeing, the area is also known for its distinctive mountain produce, which includes mountain tapioca pearls, bitter tea oil, wild honey, dried bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, grass jelly, and passion fruit — all locally produced, high-quality, and affordably priced.
