The Nantou Hot Springs and Flowers Carnival kicks off on the 25th, showcasing local charm through art

The Nantou Hot Springs and Flowers Carnival is set to kick off on the 25th, with this edition highlighting the themes of "Flower Village" and "Hot Spring Travel." To help people of all ages learn more, during the event period, a popular online illustrated blogger will create a chibi-style artwork based on elements from Nantou’s three major hot spring areas, presenting another facet of Nantou. Later, they will also visit during the Nantou flower-viewing season to create an illustrated travelogue, teaching everyone how to enjoy flowers, soak in hot springs, and have fun in Nantou.



The "Nantou Hot Springs and Flowers Carnival" will take place from October 25 this year to February 1 next year (2015). The first event of the Nantou Hot Springs and Flowers Carnival will kick off this Saturday in the Beigangxi Hot Spring area, and Nantou County has three major hot spring areas: Beigangxi in Guoxing Township, Dongpu in Xinyi Township, and Puli. At 3 p.m. on the 25th, visitors staying in Nantou County and local residents can enter for free. The site will offer whole roast pig and various game meats, paired with millet wine and indigenous specialty drinks, allowing everyone to experience the cultural charm of Nantou’s indigenous peoples. Then, on November 1 at the Dongpu Hot Spring area at the foot of Yushan Mountain, there will be a torch yukata street parade. Participants can receive a free yukata to stroll through the hot spring town holding torches in the dark.

The event has also partnered with the Chinese Lantern Art Association, and along the parade route, there will be over 60 lanterns that will be displayed at next year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival, giving visitors a sneak peek. On November 8, at the Puli Hot Spring by Lotus Lake, cyclists who love biking are invited to join the iSlowPlay Bicycle Hot Spring Intellectual Journey, cycling around the town and tasting hot spring cuisine. The Tianshuan Hot Spring Club will open its outdoor spa pool for free that day, allowing visitors to experience a hot spring soak.
