Fairy Waterfall

Originally named Jiji Waterfall, Fairy Waterfall is located behind the junior high school in Jiji Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. It is an artificially carved waterfall on a roughly thirty-meter-high circular cliff face. The idea to carve the waterfall was proposed by former Jiji Township Mayor Lin Ming-Zhen to enhance the town’s tourist attractions. After geological surveys and negotiations with the landowner, it was excavated in the 86th year of the Republic of China and has since become a well-known attraction in the town.

Fairy Waterfall cascades down from a wide cliff face about three stories high into a stone-lined pool below. Though not as majestic as large natural waterfalls, it adds a lively charm to the town. In addition, the area around the waterfall features rest pavilions and is surrounded by various plants and flowers, creating a tranquil and pleasant environment that attracts many visitors to stop and enjoy the scenery.

Visitors should note that the waterfall is only visible during the summer high-water season; at other times of the year, it may not be possible to see the waterfall.
