The main structure of Chi-Chi Station is built entirely from high-quality cypress wood, giving it an extremely elegant and rustic appearance. However, it was once nearly shut down due to severe financial losses. Later, thanks to the active efforts of the Chi-Chi town mayor, the station was revitalized with landscaping and beautification projects, and a decommissioned train was acquired and displayed in the square in front of the station for public viewing. Since then, Chi-Chi Train Station has gradually regained its vitality. After being severely damaged in the 921 Earthquake, the station was quickly restored to its original state with donations from people across Taiwan. A Railway Cultural Exhibition Hall was also built next to the station, allowing visitors to gain deeper insight into the development history of Chi-Chi Station and trains.
