Hualien Carp Lake

Carp Lake is located at the foot of Mount Carp on the western side of Shoufeng Township, covering an area of 104 hectares. It is the largest lake in Hualien County. It is said that the lake got its name because the surrounding mountains resemble a carp when viewed from afar, and the lake is also abundant in carp. The county government releases fish fry here every year, making it a true “Carp Lake.” The lake water comes from springs at the lake’s center, crystal clear, with shimmering ripples reflecting the lush green mountains, adding to its charm and depth.

The water level of Carp Lake remains stable throughout the year. Colorful pleasure boats, pedal boats, and rowboats are moored along the shore, allowing visitors to glide across the sparkling waters, enjoy the gentle breeze on their faces, and experience endless delight. The lakeside is lined with gently swaying willows, and vast stretches of lush green lawns make it an ideal spot for camping, accommodating over 1,500 people. At night, you can quietly observe the flickering glow of fireflies. Wooden observation decks and pavilions dot the landscape, enhancing the serene and picturesque scenery. It's a peaceful place for leisurely walks and sightseeing. The lakeside path built along the foot of Mount Carp is perfect for strolling or cycling.
