Tourist arrivals exceed 6.77 million!“Play Hualien APP” customized and launched

To attract more independent travelers, the Hualien County Government this year launched the “Play Hualien APP,” compiling various local food, accommodation, entertainment, and travel information across Hualien City and County, allowing the public to access travel info and plan itineraries anytime, anywhere via their smartphones.

Su Yishun, Director of the Hualien County Government’s Tourism and Public Affairs Department, stated that this year Hualien has welcomed over 6.77 million tourists, with international visitors accounting for more than half. The county’s tourism information website has been visited over 13.47 million times, with mobile traffic more than tripling compared to last year, highlighting the importance of mobile information services for both domestic and foreign tourists. To help visitors easily plan trips, search attractions and shops, the Hualien County Government hopes that with the launch of the “Play Hualien APP,” tourists can effortlessly access real-time travel information via mobile phones or tablets, further diversifying Hualien’s tourism marketing.

The “Play Hualien APP” offers both Chinese and English versions, available for iOS and Android, and uses Location-Based Service (LBS) technology. Travelers can directly navigate via their phones, browse over 100 attractions and shops in Hualien anytime, and check traffic info such as trail conditions in Taroko National Park and road conditions, making it a great travel companion for visitors to Hualien.

In addition, customized features include “My Favorites” and “My Itinerary,” allowing users to save points of interest, shops, and more at any time, linking them together to create personalized itineraries and craft their own unique Hualien journey. Users can also check in online to record travel footprints and share them with Facebook friends. The “Play Hualien APP” can be downloaded via the provided web link or by scanning the QR code directly on your phone.
