Hegan Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Hegan Temple is located beside the coastal highway in Yenliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. It was established in the 56th year of the Republic of China (1967) by Venerable Chuanqing, a disciple of the renowned Taiwanese Buddhist master Master Guangqin, during his practice here. Built against the mountainside, it is not only one of the most famous Buddhist sites in eastern Taiwan but also a sanctuary of Buddhist art, attracting numerous tourists to visit and sightsee daily.

Backed by lush green mountains and fronted by the vast Pacific Ocean, Hegan Temple features a simple and unadorned architectural style. The melodious Buddhist chants that drift through the air create an instant sense of serenity and tranquility. On the emerald hills behind the temple stands a goose-yellow statue of Guanyin, crafted by the famed sculptor Yang Yingfeng. The majestic and solemn visage of the bodhisattva has long become an iconic symbol of Hegan Temple. The temple promotes Buddhism through "Buddhist Art Multimedia," integrating Buddhist studies, literature, music, fine arts, voice acting, photography, and computer technology. Through beautiful and moving audiovisual presentations, it naturally conveys the profound and subtle teachings of Buddhism, earning high acclaim and establishing Hegan Temple as a leader in modern religious art.

In addition, Hegan Temple regularly hosts various events including the Buddhist Art Festival, Lantern Exhibitions during the Lantern Festival, concerts, as well as essay, poetry, and short story writing competitions. All of these activities are open to the public, and visitors can participate for free.
