A man in his thirties left his hometown in Yunlin with all his family belongings and came to Taitung to start a tough pioneering journey. Eight years later, this man, now in his prime, came to Hualien with dreams in his heart. He established a freshwater clam farming business on the riverbank reclaimed land in Shoufeng Township, where rivers and waterways crisscross like a net. To show gratitude for how both his family and career were built upon the river, he named it Lichuan Fish Farm.

Upholding its consistent spirit of humility and diligence, over the years Lichuan Fish Farm has continuously innovated in breeding techniques and professional management. It transformed inconspicuous little clams into plump, delicious, and golden-shelled “Golden Clams.” The farm has not only been honored with the National Outstanding Farmers’ Shen-Nong Award but has also become a renowned professional aquaculture base in Taiwan.

In recent years, Lichuan Fish Farm has gradually transformed into a leisure and tourism-oriented fishery. Visitors here can not only experience the rustic fun of the old days—“digging for clams and washing pants at the same time”—but also savor the unique flavors of Lichuan’s fishing village cuisine in what is hailed as “the private kitchen of foodies.” Stir-fried Golden Clams, steamed Noble Lady Fish, salt-grilled Sweetfish, and Taiwanese Tilapia are all must-try signature dishes. Additionally, the farm’s “Lichuan Spring Water Aquatic Ecology Tour” is a popular activity that blends knowledge and emotion. With guidance from the staff, visitors can uncover the secrets of Golden Clam farming and admire the beauty of birds over the farming wetlands.
