Taiwan Lovers' Lake

Originally named Wuyi Pond, Lovers' Lake is a highland lake located on the mountainside of Dawulun Mountain in the western suburbs of Keelung City, Taiwan. It is formed by the convergence of several mountain streams. Surrounded by dense forests, the lake boasts emerald-green waters and picturesque mountain scenery, creating a refreshing and delightful atmosphere. The lake area is equipped with facilities such as observation pavilions, suspension bridges, scenic waterfront platforms, and windmills, making it an excellent spot for outdoor walks, picnics, and sightseeing.

During spring and summer, the area around Lovers' Lake is alive with the sounds of insects, fluttering butterflies, and migrating birds, exuding vibrant energy. Moreover, it is just a 10-minute drive from the lake up to Dawulun Mountain, where you can reach Dawulun Fort. This fort served as an important defensive stronghold on the western side of Keelung. It was garrisoned by Qing dynasty troops during both the First Opium War in 1840 and the Sino-French War in 1884. Although the current structure of Dawulun Fort was rebuilt during the Japanese colonial period, its construction and design features are still worthy of study, and it has been designated as a second-class historical site in Taiwan.
