The Keelung City Government is hosting the “2018 Keelung Chaojing Bay Festival,” featuring five major themes: “Trendy Ocean,” “Trendy Ecology,” “Trendy Music,” “Trendy Cuisine,” and “Trendy Fishing Village.” The themes are diverse, offering many fun and relaxing marine leisure activities, making Taiwan’s summer seaside experiences even more varied.

The five major themes include ten activities, such as kayaking experiences, bay cruises, ocean cleanup events, scuba diving to observe marine life, recording the bay through photography, two-day-one-night experience camps, fishing village tours, and trendy capsule toy hunting. These activities are available for online registration, allowing families, friends, couples, and visitors of all kinds to create wonderful summer memories in Keelung.

Among them, the “Paddle Through Chaojing” activity takes place at Keelung Chaojing Bay, a top kayaking destination in northern Taiwan. The thrilling kayaking experience not only lets you paddle yourself but also enjoy the seascape and the beauty of nature. There’s also a snorkeling activity where you can explore the rich and beautiful marine ecology beneath the water’s surface.

Meanwhile, the “Stroll Around Chaojing Bay” bay cruise experience takes you around the entire Chaojing Bay, offering views of unique geological landscapes such as Keelung Islet, Keelung Mountain, and the IG-famous Elephant Trunk Rock. You can take in the magnificent mountain and sea views all at once. There’s also a fishing village culture experience, including wearing straw shoes to explore the intertidal zone, learning how to use a drag net from a fishing boat captain, enjoying the IMAX 3D Ocean Theater, and visiting Forget-Worry Valley. There are many fun and authentic fishing village activities, plus the bay festival’s closing ocean cleanup event.
