New spot to visit for Qixi Festival — ultra-photogenic Japanese-style literary and artistic architecture

Located in Lane 77, Zhongzheng Road, Taoyuan Railway Station area, “77 Art & Culture Village” began trial operations on Qixi Festival (August 17) and will officially open in September. Housed in a historical site formerly known as the “Japanese-style Police Dormitory,” visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Japanese architecture and experience the culture of old alleyways from their childhood.

The 77 Park reflects the cultural and historical value by presenting the standard dormitory architectural style of official residences during the Japanese colonial period. Covering an area of approximately 3,255 square meters, it was completed through restoration that preserved its original character and partial reconstruction. After renovation, combining the cultural ambiance of the building itself, the space has been planned with indoor exhibition areas and outdoor performance spaces, including workshops, exhibition zones, a blessing area, an outdoor performance area, and a light meal restaurant.

The overall spatial imagery and development planning incorporate visual language related to “police” to promote art and cultural activities, performances, and lectures. The wooden construction techniques clearly showcase the characteristics of the era, and after restoration, they further reveal the spirit and vitality of the buildings.
