Shuangyong Park

Covering a total area of 9.85 hectares, Shuangyong Park in Habahe County is located in the eastern part of the tree-lined county town. Built along the natural terrain and existing man-made forest belts, the park features an overall style of classical Chinese garden, complementing the striking regional and ethnic characteristics of nearby attractions such as the unique rock formations, rock paintings, corridors, and wooden cabins of Halong Gully. In front of the park’s entrance stands a Shuangyong-themed sculpture symbolizing the military and civilians standing together to guard the border. Inside the park, creatively designed features such as the Red Star Flower Bed and the Shuangyong Wall showcase the deep bond between the military and the people of Habahe County.

Habahe County has over 300 kilometers of border defense lines, bordering Kazakhstan and Russia. The county has a population of more than 80,000. Several border defense units are stationed within the county, including a unit of the People's Liberation Army and the armed police border defense forces. Over the years, officials and residents of all ethnic groups in Habahe County, along with officers and soldiers of the stationed military units, have guarded and developed the border region with boundless loyalty to the motherland and its people. Together, they have planted the seeds of military-civilian unity on this affectionate land, forming a new type of relationship where the military and civilians “share weal and woe, destinies, and hearts.” The flower of military-civilian unity, carefully nurtured by the soldiers and local people, blooms especially vibrantly along the banks of the Habahe River.

The surging waters of the Habahe River bear witness to the profound bond between the people and the soldiers. In 1989, Habahe County was named an autonomous region-level “Model County for National Unity, Progress, and Military-Civilian Unity.” In 1995, it was designated an autonomous region-level “Military-Civilian Unity” Model County. In 2007, it was awarded the title of Autonomous Region-Level Military-Civilian Unity Model County and also recognized as an “Advanced County in Supporting Border Defense Work.” Today, the “military-civilian unity” work in Habahe County has evolved into a collaborative effort involving the military, local authorities, police, and civilians. Currently, Shuangyong Park in Habahe County is applying for recognition as a national 3A-level tourist attraction.
