On November 4, 2013, VAUDE officially announced the recruitment for the second stop of the “Biking to Climb” series — Meeting at Mt. Haba in its most beautiful season. The recruitment window will be open for over a month. The event will select 30 outdoor enthusiasts to embark on an amazing biking trip to Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Haba Village in December 2013, and then, under the guidance of VAUDE’s professional outdoor coaching team, climb Mt. Haba.
Team Leader: Uncle Cai
In 2009, Italian mountaineers Diego Giovannini and Franco 'Franz' Nicolini climbed all 82 peaks over 4,000 meters in the Alps without using any mechanical assistance, and they traveled between peaks by bicycle. They became the first pair of mountaineers to achieve this feat. Inspired by this, VAUDE launched the eco-friendly “Biking to Climb” series. VAUDE hopes that this environmentally conscious climbing approach will inspire people to think more about outdoor environmental protection.
“As long as you have a passion for the outdoors, enjoy cycling, look forward to the unique experience of climbing a snow mountain, and are committed to environmental protection, you can join the event and meet a group of like-minded friends.” This is VAUDE’s hope for this recruitment, and the brand wishes that every participant not only enjoys a wonderful journey but also understands and helps spread the message that a beautiful environment needs to be well protected.
It is understood that the “Biking to Climb” eco-friendly activity series is divided into three legs: Qiyi Glacier, Mt. Haba, and the Alps. In June 2013, the first leg of “Biking to Climb” — Biking Across Qiyi Glacier — was successfully completed, with every participant sharing their thoughts and feelings about this unique experience.
“A bold stroke has been added to my outdoor dream list. Even now, a month later, as I sit at my computer piecing together fragments of memory, I am still deeply moved. This time, from Jiayuguan to Qiyi Glacier — Biking to Climb.” This is what an editor of this magazine wrote after fully participating in the first leg of “Biking to Climb” at Qiyi Glacier.
