Niujì Youcha from Niuhe County
Niujì Youcha from Niuhe County is a well-known and long-renowned local specialty food in Niuhe, traditionally handmade. Originating during the Qing Yongzheng era, it was designated as an imperial tribute by Emperor Yongzheng. Later, the inheritor Niu Baoyong combined the Ni family’s secret traditional recipe for Niujì Youcha with modern scientific techniques to develop a shelf-stable, convenient-to-eat, and uniquely flavored powdered oil tea. The product is sold as far as Zhengzhou, Nanyang, and surrounding counties and cities. In 1999, it was awarded the title of “Cross-Century Famous and Quality Product” at the Central China Famous and Quality Products Exhibition and Ordering Fair. In 2006, it was honored as a “Green and Healthy Food” at the Central China Chongyang Culture Festival. In September 2006, it applied for and received approval from the State Intellectual Property Office for a “Design Patent.” In 2007, it was featured as a “Top-Ranked Brand” on Henan Television. In May 2008, it applied for recognition as a provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage.
