The Fuhai Seaside is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Fuhai Seaside in Altay, also known as Ulungur Lake, is located on the northwestern edge of the Junggar Basin. It is divided into two parts: the Big Lake (Dahuzi) and the Small Lake (Xiaohuzi), with the Big Lake being a saltwater lake and the Small Lake (Jililake) a freshwater lake. A provincial highway runs between the two lakes. On the eastern shore of the Big Lake, near the highway, there is a stretch of fine, white sandy beach about ten kilometers long, suitable for water sports such as surfing, boating, and skateboarding. The lake water here is crystal clear, and the shoreline is covered with lush reeds. At dusk, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset, making for a truly enchanting scene. The Small Lake lies to the south of the Big Lake and features a bird island in its waters, where flocks of seagulls, swans, and wild ducks arrive in great numbers. The lake is rich in fish, and local restaurants along the shore offer delicious all-fish banquets that are not to be missed.

The Fuhai Seaside in Altay is situated on the alluvial plain at the foot of the Altai Mountains. It is a tectonic lake formed by subsidence, consisting of two lakes that resemble an upside-down gourd when viewed from the air. The area enjoys a healthy ecological environment and is abundant in premium fish species such as common carp, Oriental bream, and northern pike. “Fuhai Wild Fish” is renowned both within and beyond Xinjiang. In summer, the most remarkable feature of the lake is its bird island, which serves as a paradise for birds. Flocks of seagulls, wild ducks, and egrets take flight together, and there are also rare species such as white swans and cranes, offering high ornithological value. On the eastern shore of the lake, there is a rare wind-eroded “Yardang” landform, locally referred to as the “Devil’s City on the Sea.” The area boasts well-developed tourism infrastructure and comprehensive supporting services, with a wide range of water and beach recreational activities.

The Fuhai Seaside in Altay is located on the northern edge of the Junggar Basin in Xinjiang. The Fuhai Golden Coast was developed over five years, relying on the vast waters and beautiful natural scenery of Ulungur Lake—one of China’s top ten freshwater lakes. The area is primarily inhabited by the hospitable and culturally rich Kazakh people.
