Halgatu (Songshugou) Ecotourism Area

The Halgatu (Songshugou) Ecotourism Area is located about 40 kilometers northeast of the county seat of Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County, at an altitude of around 1,800 meters. Here, the mountains are high and the waters deep, with dense pine forests. On Shuangtuo Ridge in the western part of Songshugou hangs a waterfall about 50 meters long. The cool, clean waterfall water splashes into a concave pool before rushing further into the mountain valley. On the Damuqia Grassland within the pine forest, during spring, summer, and autumn, pink and snow-white peonies, golden genistas, crimson wild roses, and delicate wild chrysanthemums bloom in diverse forms, competing in beauty. The Songshugou area is home to over 200 kinds of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs such as astragalus, fritillaria, gymnospermium, and mint; and dozens of rare wild animals and birds such as argali, snow leopards, wild asses, cranes, snowcocks, and golden parakeets roam the forests and grasslands or circle above the Yuku'er Qiaolong Mountain.

The scenery of Songshugou is unique and distinctive. Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County often holds "Jangar" epic singing performances and Mongolian-style wrestling competitions in Chagan Kule Township, located below Songshugou.
