The Ancient City Ruins of Duerben Elute Senmu

The Ancient City Ruins of Duerben Elute Senmu is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Ming Dynasty

The Ancient City Ruins of Duerben Elute Senmu are located at 48°46'N latitude and 85°48'E longitude, 5 kilometers southeast of Hoboksar County and 2 kilometers from Moteg Township, covering an area of 168,100 square meters.

The ancient city is square-shaped, with sides measuring 414 meters by 414 meters. The direction of the walls is 20° northwest of north. The northern wall is relatively well-preserved, with a gap in the middle section approximately 20 meters wide, likely the site of a gate. This gap has now become a dry riverbed, which spreads inside the city in a “V” shape, with its vertex at the gap in the northern wall. One branch flows southwest, the other southeast. The eastern wall is moderately preserved, with no gate. The southern wall has a central gate, while the western wall also has a gate that is relatively well-preserved, with visible traces. The gate opening is 10 meters wide.

In the northwest corner of the ancient city, there is a damaged Tibetan-style stupa. Within the city, artifacts such as clay Buddha statues and copper prayer beads have been found. Currently, only a stupa base remains, about 3 meters high. According to local herders, prior to 1970, this stupa was still about 10 meters tall but was later struck down by lightning.

In May 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
