The Camel Rock Paleolithic Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Camel Rock Paleolithic Site in Heshituogai Town is a rare, large-scale paleolithic workshop and the oldest known human activity site discovered in Xinjiang to date. The site derives its name from a striking yardang landform resembling a "camel," hence it is called the "Camel Rock Platform" site.

On July 21, 2014, the Camel Rock Paleolithic Site was included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Heshituogai Town: Located on the northwestern edge of the Junggar Basin in Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County, Heshituogai Town enjoys convenient transportation and abundant resources. The Kuipei (Kuytun–Beitun) Railway and National Highway 217 run through the town. Covering a total area of 6,684 square kilometers with a population of 22,000, the town is home to 13 ethnic groups including Mongolian, Han, Kazakh, and Uyghur. It governs 9 administrative villages and 4 communities, and has 42 government offices, schools, stations, and enterprises. The total cultivated land area is 17,500 mu, with a per capita arable land of 5.8 mu.
