Hetian County Drinking Water Source Memorial Hall

The Hetian County Drinking Water Source Memorial Hall is located in Tuholo Village, Buzhake Township, Hetian County. The memorial hall was first built in October 1994 and was triumphantly completed on October 1, 1995. It covers an area of 2,600 square meters, with a building area of 800 square meters. The architectural style is grand and solemn, and through a comprehensive display of historical materials, architecture, sculptures, films, and other media, it fully showcases the glorious journey of the people of all ethnic groups in Hetian County in water management and improvement under the leadership of the Party in recent years.

In the past, drinking water conditions in the Hetian region were very backward, with humans and livestock sharing the same water sources, mainly drawn from canals and ponds, which historically led to multiple outbreaks and epidemics of infectious diseases. On August 26, 1994, when the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference inspected the rural areas of Hetian County and learned of this situation, he immediately decided to resolve the issue as soon as possible upon returning to Beijing. As a pilot county for large-scale water improvement in Xinjiang, Hetian County officially launched the project in October 1994 and triumphantly completed it on October 1, 1995, thoroughly solving the drinking water problems of 153,000 farmers and herders and 306,000 head of livestock. To express gratitude for the care of the Party and the state for the people of the border regions, the residents of Hetian County spontaneously built a water improvement monument to educate future generations, remember the kindness of the Party, and uphold ethnic unity and progress.

The memorial area includes an exhibition hall of water improvement project photos, a screening room, a calligraphy room, and a water-themed memorial stele. The stele stands 3.95 meters tall, with a base 0.8 meters high and a foundation 0.6 meters high. The body of the stele is clad in white marble, and the inscription, text, and the list of donating organizations and individuals are engraved in both Uyghur and Chinese.

Since its establishment, the Hetian County Drinking Water Source Memorial Hall has received over 60,000 visits from cadres and masses of all ethnic groups, as well as young students, becoming an important site for education on ethnic unity, progress, and patriotism.
