Ming-Qing Old Street

The Ming-Qing Old Street was first built in the fifth year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1727) and reached its commercial peak by the thirteenth year of the Republic of China (1924). At that time, there were over a thousand businesses and handicraft workshops, with total capital exceeding five million taels of silver. As a result, the county town of Huangyuan, known as "Dangar," became famous throughout the province as the "Commercial Capital by the Sea." Commerce flourished, and merchants from dozens of countries, including Russia, the United States, Britain, and Belgium, established foreign firms here. By the 1950s and 1960s, it remained the main commercial district of Huangyuan County.
