Introduction: Bathang Hot Spring Valley is located in a southern valley of Bathang Township, about 45 kilometers from Jiegu, the seat of the prefecture. At an altitude of 3,900 meters, the valley features secluded winding paths, lush vegetation, abundant wildlife, and picturesque scenery. The valley is rich in hot springs that contain various trace elements. According to written records, the history of bathing in the hot springs of Bathang Hot Spring Valley for therapeutic purposes is very long-standing. On the stones of each spring pool, Tibetan inscriptions describe the healing properties of that particular spring. Some of these Tibetan inscriptions are still clearly legible, while others have been eroded by wind and are difficult to recognize.

Bathang Township: Bathang Township is located in the southeastern part of the county, bordering Sichuan Province to the northeast and the Tibet Autonomous Region to the east. It is 40 kilometers from the county seat. The population is 5,000, predominantly Tibetan, accounting for 99.7% of the total. The area covers 2,108 square kilometers. It administers seven pastoral committees: Shangbathang, Tielijiao, Xiabathang, Xianggu, Chalai, Dangtou, and Laoye.
