Xuanyuan Kiln

Introduction The era of the Yellow Emperor was a highly significant period in the history of Chinese civilization. This era inherited the primitive culture represented by Fuxi culture, gave rise to chieftain-state civilization, and laid the foundation for slave society civilization. As the representative figure of this cultural period, the Yellow Emperor pioneered Chinese civilization. His early years were spent in Qingshui, which is therefore known as the “Hometown of Xuanyuan.” Here, there are legends and records about him, as well as traces of where he and his mother once lived.

Xuanyuan Kiln, also known as Xuankou Kiln, is located in Liyai Village, Shanggui Township, about 2 kilometers north of Qingshui County. It is said to have been the dwelling place of the Yellow Emperor’s mother and the young emperor. During the national cultural relics survey, pottery shards from the Qijia culture were discovered here.
