Capsule hotels, popular in overseas airports, are now coming to Taiwan’s highway rest stops starting April. The Qingshui Service Area in Taichung will offer a capsule-like hotel for tired drivers from mid-to-late April. In addition to providing private space, it also features a 200,000 NTD ergonomic stress-relief bed available for 30 minutes per session to help drivers recharge before hitting the road again!

The Qingshui Service Area in Taichung will offer a capsule-like hotel for tired drivers from mid-to-late April. In addition to providing private space, it also features a 200,000 NTD ergonomic stress-relief bed available for 30 minutes per session to help drivers recharge before hitting the road again!

The National Freeway Bureau stated that the “capsule-like hotel” planned at the Qingshui Service Area currently offers three stress-relief beds, each priced at over 200,000 NTD. These beds are designed to detect the user's sympathetic nervous system activity, and with lighting adjustments and music playback, they help drivers quickly fall asleep and recover energy, providing an experience akin to a spa. From April, the public can use them for free for 30 minutes.

Currently, six service areas in Taiwan—Hukou, Tai’an, Xinying, Gukeng, Dongshan, and Xiluo—have driver lounges where long-distance drivers can rest. Each lounge has a minimum of three and a maximum of seven beds, allowing two hours of rest per session. The newly added premium rest zones at Qingshui and Xihu Service Areas will also be available.
