Loufan Temple
Loufan Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Yuanping City.
Loufan Temple is located in Ruyue Village, Yangu Township, Yuanping City. It faces east and measures 35 meters from east to west and 34 meters from north to south, covering an area of 1,190 square meters. Its date of establishment is unknown. According to the inscription on the mountain gate plaque, it was built in the 31st year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1766). The existing structures feature Qing-style architecture. Currently, only the mountain gate remains, while the rest have been destroyed. The mountain gate is a brick-and-wood structure in the form of a two-story pavilion, with the lower level being a brick-and-stone arched passageway. The plaque features the temple’s name written in regular script: “Loufan Temple.” Above it stands a single room housing a bell and drum, topped with a flush gable roof. Inside the temple, there is a stone sutra pillar dating back to the 2nd year of the Yongchun era of the Tang Dynasty (683), a pagoda of Li Xiu from the 14th year of the Dading era of the Jin Dynasty (1174), and a stele with a remade statue of Master Huìyuǎn from the 41st year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1613). In 1981, it was designated as a county (city)-level cultural relic protection unit by the Yuanping County People’s Government. Content excerpted from (“A Collection of Cultural Relics in Xinzhou”).
