Jinuo Folk Village

Jinuo Folk Village is located in Bapo Village of the Jinuo Township, between Wild Elephant Valley and Menglun Botanical Garden. Situated in the eastern part of Jinghong City, it is 28 kilometers from Jinghong City and 70 kilometers west of Mengyang Town. This is the ancestral homeland of the Jinuo people. The Jinuo ethnic group is the last of China's 56 officially recognized ethnic groups. With a relatively small population, most of them live in this area. The mountains are home to more than 40 villages, inhabited by over 17,000 people. Here, visitors can not only enjoy the scenery of Jinuo Mountain but also experience the unique culture of the Jinuo people.

Jinuo Mountain, historically known as Youle Mountain, is one of the six famous ancient tea mountains in Yunnan. It is mentioned in Yunnan’s earliest encyclopedia of local specialties and products, "Dian Hai Yu Heng Zhi." The name "Jinuo" comes from the Jinuo language, where "ji" means uncle and "nuo" means descendants. Thus, "Jinuo Mountain" refers to the land inhabited by the descendants of uncles, offering a glimpse into the culture of the Jinuo people.

Bathed in warm sunlight and under the watchful gaze of A Mao Yao Bei, the creator deity of the Jinuo people, the grand drum gate of the village opens its welcoming doors, nestled within lush green forests. Statues of Ma Hei and Ma Niu faithfully guard this homeland of the Jinuo people.

The five sacred pillars of the Zhuoba House exude divine authority. The community hall and longhouse encapsulate the Jinuo people's daily life experiences. The Jinuo Corridor showcases the rich hunting culture and folk art of the Jinuo. The sunflower garden displays bashful blooms that express heartfelt emotions, while the powerful beats and movements of the Great Drum Dance are imbued with deep elements of ancient religious traditions.

On this land, the footsteps of history have passed, mystic visions of religion persist, and the distinctive ethnic culture can be experienced at every turn.

Jinuo Township: The Jinuo Mountain Jinuo Ethnic Township is located in the northeastern part of Jinghong City, between 100°25′–101°25′ east longitude and 21°59′–22°29′ north latitude, 27 kilometers from the seat of Jinghong City Government. It borders Menglun Town of Mengla County to the east, connects to Menghan Town to the south, lies adjacent to Mengyang Town to the west, and neighbors Dadugang Township to the north.
