Mandiu Village

Mandiu Village is under the jurisdiction of the Mangzhangzai Village Committee in Gasa Town, Jinghong City, Yunnan Province. It is a beautiful, freely accessible small village with simple and honest folkways, where villagers don’t even lock their doors at night. In the past, most young people left to work elsewhere, but now many have returned to engage in tourism.

The main highlights here are the hot springs and the village.

Traditional Dai houses used to be built with black tiles and wooden planks, which were not in direct contact with the ground but raised on stilts to prevent moisture—quite distinctive. However, such houses are rarely seen nowadays.

Fortunately, Mandiu has been well-preserved through local protection efforts, with most of its houses remaining intact. Best of all, there is no entrance fee.

Upon arrival, you’ll be pleasantly surprised—it’s remarkably well-preserved. Most of the residential buildings have been conserved. The entire village is very clean and tidy, situated on a slope with a pond in front, making it truly picturesque.
