The Xishuangbanna Ethnic Museum is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Xishuangbanna Ethnic Museum is located on the mountainside of Nanlian Mountain in Jinghong City, on the east bank of the Lancang River. Nestled against the mountain and overlooking the river, it enjoys a beautiful environment. The grand architectural complex faces the city of Jinghong and is surrounded on three sides by lush natural forests and rubber plantations. The museum covers an area of 150 acres, with a building area of 16,000 square meters. The main exhibition area of the museum is divided into five major sections. The first section is "Looking Back at Mengle — The Historical Voyage of Xishuangbanna," which narrates the historical evolution of Xishuangbanna through archaeological findings, records in Chinese and Dai-language literature, as well as the glorious journey of people of all ethnic groups taking charge of their own affairs and working together to build a prosperous, democratic, civilized, and harmonious Xishuangbanna under the leadership of the Communist Party of China since its liberation on February 17, 1950. The second section is "Ode to Harmony — The Ethnic Charm of Xishuangbanna," which presents in thematic units the distinctive yet richly diverse cultures of the 13 indigenous ethnic groups, including the Dai, Hani, Blang, Jino, and Lahu. The third section is "Rainforest Rhythms — A Glimpse of Xishuangbanna’s Nature," showcasing the geography, natural environment, and the forms of ancient and modern life in Xishuangbanna. The fourth section is "Culture Enriching the Borderland — A Harmonious Homeland for Multiple Ethnicities," displaying the cultural classics and artistic heritage of various ethnic groups, the achievements in the inheritance and development of folk culture and art, as well as the vibrant cultural expressions of these talented and musical peoples that promote civilization and social progress through their rich diversity.
