Situated in Nanuo Mountain — hailed as the world’s No. 1 ancient tea village — Banpo Laozhai encompasses over a thousand acres of ancient tea plantations. Located at an altitude of 1,650 meters on Nanuo Mountain in Gelanghe Township, it is renowned for its unspoiled scenery and vast contiguous ancient tea gardens.

It features exquisitely preserved virgin forests and contiguous ancient cultivated tea gardens that are around 800 years old, making it the largest ancient tea area in Xishuangbanna Prefecture and even Yunnan Province.

Moreover, the ancient cultivated tea king tree growing in the Banpo Laozhai ancient tea garden on Nanuo Mountain, together with the now-departed "wild tea king tree of Badashan," form a legendary pair that has cemented Menghai’s lofty status in the entire Pu'er tea industry — a revered position held dear by those in the tea trade.

Although built on a mountainside, Banpo Laozhai benefits from excellent conservation, with towering ancient trees, dense forests, babbling streams, rich biodiversity, and many typical tropical rainforest wonders, making it a natural virgin forest park.
