Upstream of Tongren Rock, there is a stone that overhangs the surface of the Jinjiang River. Its shape resembles that of a fish, which locals call the “Carp Mouth.” Whenever ripples dance across the river, the stone appears as if the fish is continuously swimming. In ancient times, a temple was built on this rocky outcrop, surrounded by dense, lush bamboo, and it came to be known as Jinsin Temple. The carp still swims in the Jinjiang River, but no one knows in which year or dynasty Jinsin Temple was destroyed. According to folklore, egrets from Egret Rock upstream flap their wings ready to dive, cats from Cat Rock (near the Ethnic Teachers College) upstream glare hungrily, fishermen wait at Fishing Weir Beach downstream to catch it, and fishing nets are already spread at the Nets Field of Moushan River (near Xieqiao), a tributary. With no way to escape, the fish has no choice but to appear here and stay, no longer swimming away.
