YinTan Dong Village

YinTan Dong Village is a magical and poetic Dong ethnic village. The village is 20 kilometers from Congjiang County, with the Congjiang–Guping Highway running along its edge. The village has a total of 323 households and 1,669 residents. Surrounded by green mountains and towering ancient trees, the compact houses—wooden stilted buildings made of fir and built along the mountain and water—stand in rows. A 13-story drum tower stands prominently in the village, and a clear stream winds through the settlement, flowing gently. The surrounding fields and streams reflect a silvery shimmer under the sunlight, hence the name YinTan (Silver Pool). The area boasts original and unique ethnic customs, including traditions such as the "Jindao Tgaiguanren" (Golden Path Carrying the Official) and young Dong men and women—known locally as "Lahan" and "Lamian"—swinging on tire swings under yew trees to express affection. There are many ethnic festivals, mainly including Dong New Year, the June Festival, and the Guzang Festival.
