Jiache Village

Jiache Village is one of the areas in the Miao-inhabited regions of Guizhou where stilted wooden houses are best preserved. Due to the presence of its ancient stilted buildings, Jiache Village was included in the “List of China’s Traditional Villages” published by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and other departments in August 2013.

Upon arriving in Jiache Village, you’ll be captivated by the surrounding terraced fields that span tens of thousands of acres, with the village located on the mountainside. The landscape is split by terraces on both sides divided by the Jiache River Valley, presenting a grand and majestic terrain. The village features simple flagstone paths and an array of ancient, interlocking buildings. The houses are all made of wood, with grey-tiled roofs and occasionally some walls on the ground floor. The well-preserved wooden structures blend harmoniously with the terraced fields. In the early morning, you can even see wisps of cooking smoke rising — a true sign of village life.

Jiache Village is located in the northeastern part of Jiabang Township, about 15 kilometers from the township center.

You can hire a car from the county town to get there.
