Hongyang Miao Village is located in the southern part of Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, situated along the main tourism route of Nangong Forest Park, 15 kilometers from the county seat and over 1,000 meters above sea level. With its beautiful mountains and clear waters, elegant environment, and rich, traditional ethnic culture, Hongyang Miao Village is an ethnic tourism village that combines natural scenery, ethnic charm, and leisure vacation. It is the most pristine ethnic tourism village along the Nangong Forest Park tourism route and the northern tourism loop of Leigong Mountain.

Hongzhai is located within the territory of Nangong Forest Park in Taijiang, 17 kilometers from the county seat of Taijiang. It currently has 216 households and a population of over 1,200. The residents include the Zhang, Wu, Yang, Tai, and Luo families, with the Zhang family being the founding ancestors of the village, making up 95% of the population. Legend has it that their ancestors hunted here and found the area to be spacious, fertile, and picturesque—perfect for settlement. They thus made it their home, cleared the land, and raised generations of descendants, with a history of over 1,000 years.

Hongzhai Village boasts not only a long history but also a wealth of ethnic cultural heritage, including oral legends, music and dance, craftsmanship, medicine, weaving, dyeing, architecture, calendrics, and ecological conservation—all fundamental aspects of human survival that remain valuable references today.

The scenery of Hongzhai Village features lush green trees surrounding every household. To the west of the village lie two patches of primeval forest, known as the “Village Guardian Mountains,” which protect the settlement. Against the backdrop of the surrounding woods, the village appears incredibly beautiful. The oral legends of Hongzhai are even more diverse, including tales of historical figures, myths, fairy tales, ancient songs, love songs, and drinking songs. Today, Hongzhai Miao Village has restored many cultural sites from the past, such as the ancient military gate from the Yongzheng and Qianlong eras, the beautiful legend of “Dragon Maiden Pool,” the thousand-year-old camphor tree used for worship, Jiangyang Sleeping Stone, and Gazebo Ba Na. These cultural attractions make it an ideal destination for tourism, sightseeing, and vacation.
