Tainan Travel Heats Up: Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Welcomes One Million Passengers, Gives Away Gifts

Currently, there are 31 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes across Taiwan. As of the end of June, the total number of passengers nationwide reached approximately 4.7 million, among which Routes 88 Anping and 99 Taijiang alone had 930,000 riders, accounting for 20% of all Taiwan Tourist Shuttle rides—making them the most heavily used routes. These two lines are expected to exceed one million passengers by early September this year. To welcome the one millionth rider and enhance service quality, three new travel package options were launched this year: “Tainan 88 99 One-Day Travel Pass,” “Tainan 88 99 Two-Day Travel Pass,” and “Salt Coast Tainan 88 99 Three-Day Travel Pass.” In addition to covering bus fares on Routes 88 Anping and 99 Taijiang, these passes also include free entry to historic sites, food vouchers, discounted tickets to the Taiwan Salt Museum, and free transfers on Kaohsiung Bus and Fucheng Bus routes within Tainan City. The one-day pass is priced at NT$150, the two-day pass at NT$270, and the three-day Salt Coast package at NT$290. This year also marks the first collaboration with the Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation to offer the “Tainan 8899 HSR Joint Ticket,” providing a 25% discount on round-trip high-speed rail fares.

 

Starting now, in limited collaboration with Tainan’s Jiajia Xishichang Market, Jiajia Xiaonantian, and Weiyue Hotel, the “Stay in Tainan, Travel Better” package offers a one-day Tainan 8899 pass with accommodation, and a “Buy a Pass, Win a Prize” campaign is planned. Passengers who purchase one or two-day passes can join an online lottery for prizes including mirrorless cameras, tablets, smartphones, Tainan hotel vouchers, and 7-11 gift cards.

 

Additionally, from now until November 30, on national holidays and weekends, certified city guides will be available on Routes 88 Anping and 99 Taijiang to provide onboard commentary, introducing Tainan’s tourist spots and historic architecture.
