The Miao people call this elegant place "Bian Yang" in their language, and "Baiyang" is the transliteration of "Bian Yang." The village currently has 254 households and a population of 1,110. The Miao people here are known for their singing and dancing skills. The women excel in cross-stitch embroidery and needlework, capable of weaving exquisite sashes and vibrant brocades. The graceful Lusheng dance, the lingering melodies of the Miao flute, the mellow and melodious tunes played on leaves, as well as heartfelt love songs, drinking songs, and thrilling bullfighting scenes all showcase the rich cultural traditions here. The 15th and 16th days of the first lunar month mark the Baiyang Lusheng Festival. During the festival, Miao girls dressed in festive costumes, adorned with jingling silver ornaments, dance gracefully; spirited young men joyfully play the Lusheng, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. When relatives and friends enter the village, they are welcomed with welcoming songs and ceremonial drinks, and farewell is bid with parting drinks. At such moments, the air is filled with cheerful singing, making it an enchanting experience that visitors find hard to leave. In 1992, the village was listed as one of the ethnic villages on Guizhou Province’s eastern tourism route.
