Shudong Village

Shudong Village is located 38 kilometers southwest of the county seat and 10 kilometers from the town center. It borders Yandong Village to the east, Tongguan to the south, E’dong Village in Maogong Township—known as the hometown of Dong opera—to the west, and Fudong Village in Defeng to the north. The village comprises five villager groups, with 377 households and a total population of 1,720, all of whom are ethnic Dong. It is a Dong-inhabited ethnic minority village. The Single-Column Drum Tower is located in Shudong Village, Tongguan Township, Liping County, Guizhou Province, 35 kilometers from Liping County seat. The tower has been listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of Liping County.

Shudong Village: Shudong Village is situated to the west of Yandong Town, 9 kilometers from Yandong Village. It borders Yandong Village to the east, Tongguan to the south, E’dong Village in Maogong to the west, and Fudong Village in Defeng to the north. There are five villager groups, 339 households, and 1,514 people. The entire village is ethnic Dong, with surnames including Shi, Yang, Xin, Xie, and Xu. The village is spread across altitudes ranging from 450 to 880 meters. The cultivated land area is 1,023.92 mu, including 957.72 mu of paddy fields and 66.2 mu of dry land. The main industry is agriculture, supplemented by forestry, animal husbandry, fishing, and sideline production. The forest coverage rate is 78%.
