Shizhang Cave

A national key scenic area. Located 39 kilometers from Chishui city center, it covers an area of 30 square kilometers. It features the Shizhang Cave Waterfall and Zhongdong Waterfall as its highlight attractions, and offers a wealth of natural and cultural landscapes including the Shizhang Cave Waterfall, Zhongdong Waterfall, Qibing Ancient Trail, Turning Stone Wonder, Xiangxi Lake, hundred-acre camellia garden, Stone Bamboo Peak, million-year-old lingzhi mushroom, cliff carvings at Huishui Temple, and Red Army slogans. The area is pristine and serene, with lush forests, majestic peaks, and striking red cliffs. It boasts rich plant diversity, evergreen mountains all year round, and is home to active wildlife such as clouded leopards, deer, and macaques. The region is dotted with streams, springs, and numerous waterfalls. Xiangxi Lake has calm, emerald waters. It is an ideal destination for waterfall viewing, historical exploration, nature appreciation, and leisure retreats. The Shizhang Cave Waterfall rivals the Huangguoshu Waterfall in grandeur, standing 76 meters high and 80 meters wide—8 meters taller and just 1 meter narrower than Huangguoshu. It is one of China’s finest waterfall wonders. The eminent painter Liu Haisu praised it as the “Fair Lady of the Valley,” while experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have lauded it as a “miraculous danxia (red bed) waterfall spectacle of China.”
