The “China Famous Travel Bloggers’ Tour of Chishui,” jointly organized by the Chishui Municipal Tourism Bureau and Southern TV, is set to10officially launch in mid-October. With the theme “Explore Chishui, Share Beauty on Weibo,” the event aims to uncover the distinctive charm of Chishui through the lens of China’s well-known travel bloggers, offering an in-depth presentation of the area’s unique tourism resources. The organizers have invited opinion leaders from the fields of travel, photography, and media—including He Long, editorial board member of Yangcheng Evening News; legal expert Xu Xin; author and practitioner Li Dai; photographer Gong Sheng; and travel enthusiast Xie Jianshen—10a total of influential figures from travel, photography, and media—to embark on a four-day exploration of Chishui.
Located at the border of Sichuan and Guizhou, Chishui has long been a key transportation hub, where cultural heritage and natural scenery complement each other perfectly. It is home to attractions such as the “Red Army’s Four Crossings of the Chishui River Memorial Site,” ancient cities, old towns, and numerous historical sites. Its natural landscape, characterized by danxia landforms, pristine forests, waterfalls, bamboo forests, and Alsophila spinulosa (tree ferns), is quite distinctive. Known as the “City of a Thousand Waterfalls,” the “Crown of Danxia,” and the “Hometown of Bamboo Forests,” Chishui is truly a rare travel gem.
It is reported that the China Famous Travel Bloggers will travel along the Chishui River to take in its beautiful and magical natural scenery. During the trip, the bloggers will visit the ancient town of Datong to admire its streetscape and sample the local specialty “Chen Tofu Pudding,” tour the majestic Chishui Grand Waterfall, which looks like “a Milky Way falling from the sky,” explorethe wonders of China’s danxia waterfalls,experience the canyon waterfalls of Sidonggou,cruise throughthe danxia cliffs—UNESCO World Heritage Site Chishui Buddha Light Rock. The itinerary promises to be rich and exciting.
Chishui seems like a marvelous world of waterfalls. Here, rolling mountains and streams are dotted with cascades everywhere. Whether tucked among green bamboo groves or ancient woods, these waterfalls display a myriad of forms. Some are bold and unrestrained, “hanging down three hundred zhang, spraying across valleys for dozens of miles”; others are gentle and slow, “scattering pearls like light mist, brushing foam against towering rocks.” Some resemble rugged country folk, others elegant ladies of noble birth; some carry the force of a thousand pounds, while others are delicate and ethereal. Most captivating of all are the countless small springs and thin waterfalls that hang quietly in the secluded valleys—dropping down from above, so thin and soft, drifting like smoke or mist in the breeze, floating gently downward.
The Chishui Grand Waterfall is pristine and serene, surrounded by lush forests and majestic peaks. Among them, the Shizhang Cave Waterfall is particularly spectacular, comparable in scale and grandeur to Huangguoshu Waterfall. It remains a piece of unpolished jade, lying quietly in the valley. The thunderous waterfall of Shizhang Cave crashes against jagged and uneven rocks, sending up fine sprays of water droplets. From afar, it looks like the unfurled skirt of a fairy. In the sunlight, the droplets shimmer with rainbow hues, crystal clear—a perfect spot for enjoying the waterfall, reflecting on history, seeking tranquility, and escaping the summer heat.
The scenery of the Bamboo Sea and Alsophila Spinulosa National Forest Park is equally enchanting. The vast sea of bamboo covering the mountains has become a signature landscape of Chishui. Unique natural sights such as “Heavenly Gong,” “Earthly Waterfall,” “Eight Immortals Tree,” and “Couple Tree” also bring endless joy to visitors, offering a delightful return to nature. China Jurassic Park—the Alsophila Natural Reserve—also allows visitors to appreciate the pristine scenery of the Gangu Canyon, explore dinosaur fossil sites, and ponder the vastness of the universe.
The air in early autumn is crisp and pure, immaculately clean. Chishui’s beautiful waterfalls, crystal-clear springs, and fantastical, magnificent danxia cliffs seem to have been washed by the air, appearing even more vivid and bright. The beautiful Chishui River, like a slender belt, outlines the most graceful curves of the emerald-green bamboo sea. The bloggers will lead us on a leisurely journey along the mountainsides by the Chishui River, wandering through the quiet valley waterfalls. With the refreshing autumn breeze and fiery danxia hues, how could one not fall in love with Chishui and become enchanted by it?!
