The 2019 Sidu Chishui Chishui River Valley Outdoor Triathlon Challenge - Chishui Station was successfully held.

On June 22, the second season of the 2019 "Sidu Chishui" Chishui River Valley Outdoor Triathlon Challenge, themed "Share the Artistic Beauty of Chishui, Enjoy Sports in the Oxygen Bar," was grandly held in the Chishui River Valley National Tourism Resort and the Chishui Danxia Scenic Area. The event was jointly organized by the Guizhou Provincial Mountain Outdoor Sports Management Center, the Zunyi Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Government of Chishui City, and Zunyi Transportation & Tourism Investment (Group) Co., Ltd., and co-hosted by the Chishui Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Zunyi Cultural Tourism Industry Development (Group) Co., Ltd.

The Outdoor Triathlon Challenge is an emerging comprehensive sports competition that scientifically and rationally combines three outdoor sports—running, cycling, and kayaking—into one. It is a challenging and fun event that brings participants closer to nature. Athletes compete along ecologically beautiful courses, not only enjoying the stunning scenery but also being tested on their physical fitness, technical skills, teamwork, and mental endurance. Since its inception in 2017, the event has been successfully held for three years, attracting numerous domestic and international outdoor sports enthusiasts. While fueling the nationwide fitness craze, it also aligns with Guizhou’s broader trend of integrating sports and tourism, becoming a branded sports tourism event in the Chishui River Valley.

At 9:00 AM on the 22nd, as the starting horn sounded, athletes dashed off the starting line like arrows released from bows, competing along the Chishui River Valley Tourism Highway. Through running, cycling, and kayaking, they showcased their skills amid the picturesque Chishui River Valley.

The Chishui River Valley National Tourism Resort is Guizhou’s first national-level tourism resort, covering an area of 175 square kilometers and encompassing three counties and cities: Renhuai, Xishui, and Chishui. It boasts a long cultural history, rich red culture, and high-quality ecological tourism resources. Compared to previous years, this year’s event has seen improvements in scale, quality, service, and the professionalism of the competition. The race route has been thoughtfully designed to allow athletes to better immerse themselves in the local cultural and ecological characteristics.

To enhance the fun for participants and offer them a better view of the breathtaking scenery of the Chishui Danxia Scenic Area, on June 23, the entertaining event of the Sidu Chishui Triathlon—"Four Caves Fairyland Trail Run"—kicked off in the Chishui Four Caves Gully Scenic Area. This ecological scenic spot consists of four waterfalls: Water Curtain Cave, Moon Bay, Flying Frog Cliff, and White Dragon Pool. It is one of the core areas of the Chishui Danxia World Natural Heritage site, known for its Danxia landforms, waterfall clusters, bamboo forests, Alsophila spinulosa (tree ferns), and primeval forests. It serves as a microcosm of the Chishui National Scenic Area, famed as the “City of a Thousand Waterfalls,” “Crown of Danxia,” “Hometown of Bamboo,” and “Kingdom of Alsophila.” This race allowed outdoor sports enthusiasts to relax and enjoy the wonders of “forest breathing” over the weekend.
