Chishui Museum

The Chishui Museum is housed within Wanshou Palace in the city center of Chishui, a historic building that is 223 years old. The museum’s name was inscribed by General Jia Ruoyu (former Vice President of the PLA National Defense University, former Director of the Beijing Military Museum, and a native of Chishui). On both sides of the square in front of the museum, two Danxia stones are engraved with the “Ode to the Chishui River” by Qing Dynasty scholar Zhou Wenhuan and the “Chishui Sentiment,” a collaborative work by famous composer Xu Peidong, lyricist Yan Su, and others. The museum’s exhibition area spans 1,200 square meters and is divided into six sections: Introduction, Pearls Along the Long River, Epic of the Long March, Red Memories, Elites of Chishui, and Pearl of Northern Guizhou. These sections use texts, images, artifacts, reliefs, and other media to showcase Chishui’s history and culture, red culture, ecological culture, and the achievements of construction since the founding of the People’s Republic, covering various aspects including politics, economy, military, culture, and society. The exhibits include over 129 cultural relics, more than 60 other objects, and approximately 140 photographs.
