Ancient City Walls of Chishui

·Chishui has a long history. The ancient city of Chishui is located on the southern bank of the lower reaches of the renowned Chishui River, facing Jiuzhi Town of Hejiang County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, across the river.

·Nestled against the mountains and by the river, the Chishui River surges down from the foothills of the Wumeng Mountains but here it tames its wild and untamed nature, flowing gently around the west and north sides of the city. It passes the east gate and then turns eastward before rushing swiftly toward the Yangtze River.

·This is also one of the key reasons why Chishui has since ancient times been an important city in northern Guizhou and southern Sichuan, serving as a major hub for goods distribution and one of the four key ports for Sichuan salt entering Guizhou — the Ren Port.
