Changqian Gully

A famous scenic area in Zunyi City, located about 20 kilometers northwest of Xishui County in Zunyi. The Changqian Gully scenic area includes sites such as Changqian Gully and China’s King of Firs. This area is connected to the Swan Field scenic zone, with the vast majority remaining in its pristine ecological state—approximately 95% forest vegetation coverage. Changqian Gully extends from the 22-kilometer to the 35-kilometer mark along the Mahé Highway, spanning about 13 kilometers. Surrounded by towering peaks, with green mountains and red cliffs, it resembles a natural gallery that links two distinctly different climate zones. The southern end sits at an elevation of around 1,000 meters, while the northern end is about 400 meters above sea level. Winters are not harsh and summers are not sweltering. In early spring, azaleas at the foot of the mountain are still in bud while snow still blankets the mountaintops. The scenery within the scenic area varies dramatically with the seasons, and lighting conditions create endless transformations.
