The Former Site of the Rest and Convalescence Company of the Red Army Cadre Regiment is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Rest and Convalescence Company of the Red Army Cadre Regiment was a special unit composed of the families of Central Red Army cadres and some elderly, weak, injured, and disabled personnel. The company was commanded by Chen Geng, with [political commissar name missing]. Among its 30 members were female Red Army soldiers including Mao Zedong’s wife He Zizhen, Zhou Enlai’s wife Deng Yingchao, Bo Gu’s wife Liu Qunxian, Otto Braun’s (Li De) wife Xiao Yuehua, the wife of Zeng San, and Deng Liujin, mother of a former Vice President of China, as well as the “Four Elders” of the Red Army: Xie Juezai, Lin Boqu, Dong Biwu, and Xu Teli. In July 2006, descendants of veteran Red Army soldiers retraced the Long March and visited this site. The son and daughter-in-law of General Chen Geng, as well as the son and daughter-in-law of Dong Biwu, were deeply moved. Standing in the courtyard, they wept bitterly and, with infinite reverence and longing for their fathers, kowtowed three times to honor the revolutionary leaders of the older generation.

Admission: Red culture sites such as the Site of the Houchang Conference are open to the public free of charge. Visitors can show their ID or relevant documents at the site to register and receive entry tickets.
