The Duodingguan Red Army Battle Site is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism destination.

The Duodingguan Red Army Battle Site is located 17 kilometers east of Weng’an County. A mountain ridge over 10 kilometers long stretches across the horizon, with a mountain pass in the center known as Duodingguan. Nestled against high mountains and facing a steep cliff, Duodingguan is an impregnable stronghold where a single brave man could hold off thousands. On December 27, 1934, over 200 members of local militias from Weng’an, Yuqing, Pingyue, and Huangping counties attempted to block the Red Army here. General Liu Yalou wrote in his memoir “The Dash to Capture Duodingguan”: After entering Laozui, Weng’an, from Suodong, Huangping, the Second Battalion of the Fourth Vanguard Division of the Red Army’s Left Route swiftly advanced toward Duodingguan. They then split into two forces—one taking a shortcut to outflank the mountain and seize the pass from behind, and the other occupying the high ground opposite the pass to provide covering fire with their weapons, suppressing the enemy defending the pass and aiding the Red Army in taking it from the rear. After more than an hour of fierce battle, the Red Army captured Duodingguan, enabling the main force to pass through smoothly and advance toward Weng’an County.

Driving directions to the Duodingguan Red Army Battle Site: The site is 24 kilometers from Weng’an to Yonghe Town. From Weng’an Bus Station, you can take buses to Changlin, Jiuzhou, Huangping, Laofenzui, Guantang, and other destinations. The first bus departs at 7:00 AM, the last at 5:30 PM, with one bus every 30 minutes. The fare is 6.5 yuan, and the bus ride takes about 1 hour. Driving takes approximately 30 minutes.
